"All I have done is love Seattle's children.  And believe that if we serve the children and the parents and build wonderful schools, we'll have a great city." John Stanford - Superintendent, Seattle School District

John Stanford

John Stanford was a former U.S. Army general who served as the dynamic and charismatic Superintendent of Seattle Public Schools for three unforgettable years in the 1990s before losing a battle to leukemia.

While still working at KOMO-TV, Doug Tolmie and Dan Ibabao produced a sales and marketing video for the Alliance for Education to help promote the then newly created John Stanford Endowment Fund. The video helped bring in more than $3 million in donations, including a $2 million grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
