Storyteller Wins Second Consecutive Silver Telly |
In March of 2006, the "Wings of Heroes Gala" produced by Storyteller Communications LLC won the prestigious Silver Telly in the 27th Annual Telly Awards competition in the category of Live Event.
Out of more than 12,000 entries from the world's top film and
production companies, only a handful win the coveted Silver Telly in
their category. This marks the second consecutive year that the
production of the "Wings of Heroes Gala" won the Silver Telly. Storyteller Communications LLC produced both the live event and the DVD
of the event for the Museum of Flight in Seattle, WA. Held on June 11
in the largest tent ever used for a fundraising event in the Pacific
Northwest, the 2005 "Wings of Heroes Gala" honored the 35th anniversary
of the flight of Apollo XIII. A series of video clips with film
provided by the WGBH Educational Foundation and NASA were used to help
tell one of the most dramatic and inspiring stories in the history of
exploration and discovery. During the event that included a musical
performance of the song "Aquarius" and a surprise tribute from
astronaut Neil Armstrong, members of the Mission Control teams were
honored along with surviving Apollo XIII astronauts Jim Lovell and Fred
Haise. Following the tribute to Apollo XIII, a live auction of items
flown in space plus additional fundraising through "Raise Your Paddle"
helped the Museum of Flight to gross nearly $2 million to support the
Museum's educational programs that each year benefit nearly 100,000
students. The "Wings of Heroes" Gala is one of the country's most
prestigious and successful events. The 2005 event was presented by the
Boeing Company and attracted an audience of more than 1,200 people. The
2004 event that also won a Silver Telly celebrated the grand opening of
the Museum of Flight's Personal Courage Wing by honoring six Medal of
Honor Recipients and more than 70 men who flew as fighter pilots in
World War II. For more information check www.tellyawards.com and
